BAFAB Week

***Note: This is a sticky post, so it will remain at the top of my blog till April 1. New posts will appear below this one and I don't know how to do that without it saying April 1 on the post, if you know how to change that, please let me know happy_erin26@hotmail.com. Thanks!

Huh? Oh, it means Buy A Friend A Book. The first week in April is BAFAB Week and I'm going to participate. So, I have lots and lots of friends...lucky me! Some of them comment on my blog, some of them visit, but don't comment, and some just plain don't visit (you might wish you had after this!).

In honor of BAFAB Week I'm going to ask each of you who consider yourself my friend and want a free book, to tell me about the book you want, but haven't gotten around to buying yourself and why you think you should own it. A "friend" can be someone I know in person or someone who visits my blog regularly and comments, but hasn't met me outside blogland. Here's the fun part, I am going to look at the list, ponder the list, maybe even pray (should it get too difficult) :) and then I am going to pick one lucky friend to receive a book. If you're not from lovely Manitoba, I'll pay the shipping to get it to you. I love books so much, that I would just like to share my passion for the written word with you.

Now remember, it's going to have to be a pretty darn good book and reason because the competition's going to be fierce!! And for those of you friends who are lurking, COMMENT! Get in on the action. I want a nice long list to choose from. It's technically supposed to be a surprise, but it kind of will be because you don't know who's going to win. Besides, I'd rather give someone a book that they really want, than one that will sit on the shelf and collect dust (heaven forbid!). You've got 17 days, ready...set...go figure out which book...

What a fun idea. You're really nice to do that. I know I have friends who read it everyday and don't comment...funny.

Okay there are two books that I've wanted but haven't gotten around to buying them they are both by Joyce Meyer, the first is The Confident Woman and the second is Approval Addiction. I think both of those are self explanatory, sorry no big deep thoughts coming from me....lol!!
Have fun with this, its a great idea!!!

OK.
THE FIRST book that came to mind...and to my heart, sigh....
is DR SUESS is it called "GREEN EGGS AND HAM?" i think so. i know that whenever i get a chance to read it i do. it has a special place in my heart because it has a line about "RUTHIE" - all ruth's are toothie? or something like that. i haven't read it in awhile so i'm a little rusty. that's my vote sister E. :)

Hi, Erin. I'm so glad you're celebrating BAFAB this way! I hope you and your readers enjoy it tremendously.

As tempting as this offer is, I'm probably going to be the first to suggest to you: Don't buy ME a book. The last time Solomon's had a skid sale, I gave in to the "Buy 3, Get One Free!" offer. Add that to the 3 books I got for Christmas...basically, I'm good for books. And I second what Nadine said: how generous of you!

Hi Erin,

This is a great idea! (I'm not a frequent visitor, just a re-visitor from the blog party).

I can't wait to see all the comments with book suggestions. I might pick some up for myself...or a friend.

Well, I don't comment often, but I do visit your blog every day, and I feel a little selfish requesting a book since most people leaving comments for this post aren't! But that's what this is all about, right? So my choices would be either the Personality Plus for Parents (I really liked your review of it and I love learning to become a better parent), or a fiction book you've read (and preferably liked!) I love reading books referred by friends. Have fun shopping for someone!

Yeah SO I am feeling rather selfish that I even posted the books that I want!!!
So either everyone else BETTER request a book or ignore mine....lol!!
Have a great night!

Okay Erin, you probably shouldn't buy me a book. If you buy me a book that I'm addicted to then I'll read it once my son is sleeping, I'll read it while my husband watches basketball, I'll read it when I should be doing any number of other things that are semi-important. However, I haven't had a book like that for awhile. I'm trying to muddle through Tolkien's Unfinished Tales (good song-Blush...plumb is awesome), and it's not overly attractive right now. So, my book choice is "Sixth Covenant" by Brock and Bodie Theone. It's the 6th book in their series that follows the life of Jesus through the eyes of his parents, followers, etc. It's excellent. That's my pitch. Sorry for writing an essay.

Okay, Okay,
I would really like the book YOU recommended: "Personality Plus For Parents". Have fun picking who gets a book!

oh geez...how do i pick just one:) well, i would have to say the book that i would love to own is "banner in the sky." we read it in grade 7 english...and i LOVED it. good old mr. wagner. i've had it in my chapters shopping cart at least twice, but then i'd always feel guilty and that i should actually be spending my money more wisely. either that or "bread and jam for frances." that one goes back a few years. i'm a sucker for children's stories.

Ok Erin, you forced me into it. The problem with me is that there are a gazillion books that I want. So I'm going to pick the first one that popped into my mind. I just finished Anne of Green Avonlea. I have Anne of Windy Poplars. But I don't have number three. I've read them all a gazillion times, but I want to share these with my daughter and we are stuck until I can get number three and "force" her to read it. Since I don't have a lot of time or money right now, I choose Anne #3 for my book!

So you want me to just outright tell you what book I want? Well, you're gonna have to do a tiny bit of research. It's actually listed in my list of goals. The reason it's up there is that I was hoping someone would notice, and just decide to get it for me, instead of me asking for it. That way, they would be seen as extra sweet and thoughtful! I'll give you a hint: when I listed it, I put the word "favorite" in there.

What a great idea! I just wanted to say that you have inspired me to buy a book for a friend this month. I am loving the Redemption and Firstborn series by Karen Kingsbury, so a friend of mine will be receiving the first book!
Thanks for the awesome idea!!!

Sneaking in under the radar!

The book I'm officially submitting for consideration is a little gem entitled 'The Good Girl's Guide to Negotiating' by Elizabeth Austin and Leslie Whitaker.

I read this book a few years ago and it totally revolutionized my world. It gave me confidence and taught me how to get what I need without backing down - while staying kind and friendly and feminine. It taught me that you can be strong without being a bitch.

The book was SO GOOD, in fact, that I've lent it out to lots of people - and it's now been missing for over a year. I miss it. I'd like to read it again.

And then I'll likely lend it to someone else who will keep it :)
