I'm not a snob...really!

Twice today I felt like such a snob. Not intentionally! I went for a walk today...and I must interject here, that walking is when I'm the biggest snob ever. I don't make eye contact at the best of times, but when I'm walking I feel so vulnerable, so out there, and I don't look at the people in cars driving by. It's a defense mechanism. I always have people saying "I saw you walking the other day and you didn't even wave". That's because I didn't see them. I'm in my own little world. I have my music blasting and so even if you honk, I likely won't notice. Back to today...I'm walking back onto the street that leads to our bay and there are 3 people walking with a dog. I see one of the people and I don't recognize her so I just look the other way and keep going. So I'm home shortly after my walk, sitting on my deck, when the aforementioned 3 people and dog walk around the corner down the street from our house. That's when I realize it's neighbors from down the street. Oops. They must think I'm a jerk! Yikes.

Second incident, I'm driving to my parents to pick Ella up and I see a woman and a girl on bikes just before my parents driveway. I don't really pay attention even though the woman makes eye contact with me and I drive by. Then I do a double take and realize I think I know who that is. Double whammy! Twice in one afternoon. I'm going to start making a point of looking at people who drive or walk past me. So if I've given you an unintentional brush off, sorry! I'm going to try better.

OMG! When I am walking to school in the morning i have had a teacher yell at me and friend stalk me and neither of them could get me out my world of my music! And don't worry so much of what other people think, your a good person!:)

Tooo funny!!
Being in your own world is fun, with the tunes cranked and outdoors in the fresh air!!
....just keep going, if someone is truly offended by that they have bigger issues...LOL
Have a great day!

I do that ALL the time... It was especially bad when I was living in Niverville and marathon training - people would get so offended! I couldn't breathe and I was seeing black spots - it wasn't personal... :)

Hopefully people are smart enough to realise you just aren't paying attention and they don't take ot personal. My goodness!
You are not a snob, but it always feels worse to yourself, know what I mean?

I can totally relate to the "no eye contact during walking thing".
I would think most people understand.....

Hey you would fit right in NY. No one looks at you when you walk by. When I 1st moved to WV everyone looked at you and I had to make a big adjustment...it was not easy for me. Your story reminds of when I 1st moved to WV though.
Hey congrats on losing the 2 lbs ...way to go.

I am the same way...when I'm walking my dog, I don't make eye contact with ANYONE. I guess I'm scared that the person I smile at won't smile back or be like, "Do I know you?". And, then I'll feel defeated. What's a girl to do?
